Poles Apart

The name Antartica was coined to mean opposite to the Arctic. Between Antartica and Arctic has any difference. There are in Antartica is a high ice - covered landmass. But in the Arctic the landmasses are grouped around the ice – covered Arctic ocean. Because that, in the Antartica is 30 degrees colder than the Arctic. But at the South pole monthly mean the temperatures run well below zero. Only in coastal regions, the temperature sometimes rise about freezing in summer (December to March). And the North pole monthly mean the temperature often rise above freezing. This situation is differ with American South Pole Station and on higher apart. At the American South Pole Station winter temperature sometimes fall below -100 degrees Fahrenheit. And on higher polar plateau have temperature -127degrees Fahrenheit. And in Antartica, there are very few plants like algae, mosses, and lichense and the animal which live in there is penguins. But in Arctic, there are many plants and the penguins don’t exist in there. The animal of Arctic are foxes, bears, reindeer, and leemings. Besides that, antartica is storehouse of 85% of total world supply of ice.
